THE Cebu Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) was chosen as among the routes of the grand motorcade of the Child Jesus on Saturday, January 15, 2022.

This was revealed on Thursday, January 13, during a press conference attended by the Augustinian priests, who were tasked to handle the motorcade committee, police officials and the different representatives of participating local government units (LGUs).

The grand motorcade carrying the image of Señor Santo Niño is expected to last for three hours, as shown during the dry-run, since this will pass through four local government units in Cebu, including Talisay City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City and Cordova town, before it will go back to the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño on Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City.

The motorcade will start at the basilica at 6:30 p.m. Saturday going to P. Del Rosario, then left on N. Bacalso Avenue towards Talisay City, then turn left upon reaching Sombria along Starmall going to Cebu South Coastal Road, then back to Cebu City before proceeding to M.J. Cuenco Avenue, Barangay Mabolo and then to barangays Subangdaku, Tipolo and Guizo in Mandaue City, then to the old Mandaue-Mactan bridge on their way to Lapu-Lapu City and Cordova town.

The image will then proceed to the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) before going back to the Basilica.

The grand motorcade will stop for a while at eight churches from Cebu City to Cordova. The church visitations would take around 1 hour and 30 minutes.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla, deputy city director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), that there will be no road-closure during the event except when the grand parade passes through.

Only six vehicles, including the one carrying the image, will join the grand motorcade that will be guided by the highway patrol group.

Motorists are not allowed to follow the convoy.

Rev. Fr. Nelson Serda, executive chairman sa of the Fiesta Señor committee, said this grand motorcade is one way to bring the Child Jesus nearer to the public especially that "we have not gone back on our feet yet" since the typhoon.

"Santo Niño bato balani sa gugma, tungod sa mga panghitabo ang mga tawo nagtuo nga wala nay paglaum (Santo Niño magnet of love, because of what happened people believed that there is no more hope) . This one way of bringing Santo Niño to them aron ang matag usa makapadayag sa ilang pangumoyo (so that each of them would offer a prayer)," said Fr. Serda. (BBT, TPT)
