Miado, Catalan out of ‘ONE: Heavy Hitters’

PINOY warriors Jeremy Miado and Robin Catalan are out of “ONE: Heavy Hitters” on Jan. 14, 2021 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore due to Covid-19 health and safety protocols.

“I believe this happened for a reason. Yes, it’s unfortunate that as an athlete, all of our efforts in training camp went to waste. But I believe God has His own plans,” said Miado in an official statement.

Miado was supposed to face Japanese Shinzo Ikeda in the main card.

Miado, who’s 10-4, is coming off a huge second round knockout win over Li Tao Miao in his ring return last Oct. 29, 2021 following a two-year absence.

Catalan, on the other hand, was supposed to make his ring return after a year layoff against Indonesian prospect Elepitua Serigar in the show’s opener.

“This is sad news because I was really ready for this match and I was excited to head back to the ONE Circle and get the win. Unfortunately, we have to take this news and go back home, but we promise that once everything is ok, I’ll go back to train to be able to fight again,” said Catalan, who has a record of nine wins and seven losses.

Because Miado and Catalan are out, Ikeda and Serigar are set to face each other.

The main event features a world championship fight between ONE Women’s strawweight champion Xiong Jin Nan against challenger Ayaka Miura.
