Gwen to offer ‘prayer dance’ on fiesta day

EVEN though this year’s Sinulog Festival is cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia will continue with her yearly practice of offering a “prayer dance” to the Sto. Niño on the day of the fiesta on Sunday, January 16, 2022.

Garcia told reporters this will be the 12th time she will be offering a prayer dance during the fiesta.

With Covid-19 still present, Garcia said she will hold a virtual presentation at the Cebu Provincial Capitol.

Her performance will be posted on social media.

Aside from her upcoming performance on Sunday, Garcia will also post her performances in previous Sinulog celebrations.

“This is going to be a production, lahi man ni sa live, kay what we will be presenting will be a video of the Halad sa Sto. Niño,” Garcia added.

Joining Garcia in her performance are the 10 members of the Cebu Provincial Board.

Garcia said during her performance, she plans to pray for the protection of Cebu from all calamities and challenges that might occur this year.

“As always gyud, the continued protection for Cebu and all of the Cebuanos especially to help us in recovering from Typhoon Odette and all other threats including Covid-19. I really really hope that this year will be a much much better year for our province. Maningkamot sad gyud ko nga ato ning mapabangon usab,” Garcia added. (ANV / JKV)
