Pampanga hits highest single-day Covid cases

PAMPANGA has recorded its highest single-day coronavirus cases for 2022 with some 1,105 cases on Friday, January 14, 2022, according to the official coronavirus tracker of the Department of Health.

This brought the total number of active cases in Pampanga to 5,965 cases.

Some 220 of the new active cases for January 14 were recorded in Angeles City.

In the City of San Fernando, some 257 new cases were recorded in the city on Friday. This brought the total number of active cases in the city to 1,286, one of the highest in the province.

In Santa Rita town, 29 new cases were recorded on Friday. Spikes were also recorded in Sasmuan with 14 new cases. Total active cases in Mexico town have now reached 203.

Twelve new cases were also recorded in Magalang town, bringing the town’s total active cases to 55.

Total confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic have reached a total of 75,205 cases in the province. Some 67,494 of these confirmed cases have already recovered.

Some 1,746 people have died from the pandemic in the whole of Pampanga since 2020.

Pampanga’s hospital facilities were beginning to see some stretching in the availability of hospital beds as bed occupancy rate for the 46 health facilities in Pampanga was at 62.8 percent, the highest yet in 2022.

Some 469 of the total 1,260 hospital beds remained vacant.
