Visayan Electric reaches 71.43% power restoration on Jan. 17

THIRTY-TWO days after the onslaught of Typhoon Odette (Rai), only 28.56 percent or 135,438 of Visayan Electric Company’s customers remained without power supply as of Monday, Jan. 17, 2022.

This after the power distributor had restored power to 71.43 percent or 338,744 of its 474,182 affected customers in its franchise area as of 12 p.m. Monday, the Visayan Electric reported.

Visayan Electric had promised to restore power to 100 percent of its affected customers by Jan. 31.

There are 14 days left in the month of January.

Quennie Bronce, Visayan Electric’s reputation manager, earlier said they were confident about meeting their Jan. 31 target.

Visayan Electric has been repairing poles and power lines since a day after the onslaught of Typhoon Odette, which devastated the central and southern parts of Cebu on Thursday evening, Dec. 16, 2021.

Power distributors from outside Cebu have deployed linemen to help fast-track the power restoration in Visayan Electric’s franchise area.
