SERVICES of the National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI 7) have been brought closer to the public as it opened its first Cebu district office in Mandaue City on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022.

NBI 7 Director Rennan Augustus Oliva said the new district office located at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex will not only bring closer its clearance services but also the bureau’s investigative and other technical services in fighting crime and corruption.

Also, Oliva said the presence of the district office in the city will help further promote and strengthen peace and order, and economic growth in the locality.

“The NBI Cebu district office symbolizes the desire to become more reachable to the common citizen,” he said.

Oliva further stressed that senior citizens and persons with disability (PWD) can avail themselves of the district office’s mobile services in their respective barangays.

For his part, Arnel Pura, supervising agent of the Mandaue City District Office, said the area of responsibility of the office also covers Lapu-Lapu City, Cordova, Balamban, and local government units in northern Cebu, including those in Bantayan Island and the Camotes Islands.

NBI Director Eric Distor, in his statement read by Oliva, said the district is one of the 10 district offices they planned to open within the year in the country.

Distor said the move is in accordance with the requirement set by the Modernization and Reorganization Act of 2016, where NBI has to open district offices in all 81 provinces in the country.
