REGARDLESS of their vaccination status, Mandaue City residents can work at the free working space located at the Mandaue City College-Annex while their electricity and internet connections are yet to be restored following the onslaught of Typhoon Odette in December 2021.
Lawyer John Eddu Ibañez, executive secretary of Mayor Jonas Cortes, said they noted that a lot of city residents shifted to a work-from-home (WFH) setup brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic and that the problem was compounded due to the devastation of the typhoon.
Ibañez said the about 50-person capacity working space is operational 24 hours since it opened Monday, Jan. 17, 2022.
The executive secretary, however, clarified that there will be about one to two hours of cleaning or disinfection in a day.
Apart from its free Wi-Fi connection, workers can also avail of the free snacks including biscuits, potable water and coffee provided by the city government and its donors.
What to bring
Ibañez said residents who would like to work at the free working space will only need to bring their identification card or proof of residency or certificate of employment and proof of WFH arrangement given by their respective companies.
They should also bring their own gadgets.
First come, first served
Since the working space is limited to about to 50 persons only, Ibañez said they will cater to them on a first come, first served basis.
Ibañez, however, stressed that they are still looking for additional areas that will be used as co-working space.
Since the working space will be operational 24 hours, Ibañez said there will be police personnel on standby near the area.
