Marcial back in US to train for second pro fight

OLYMPIC bronze medalist Eumir Marcial is back in the US in preparation for his second fight as a pro and another tour of duty with the Philippine national boxing team.

“Finally, I can now fully focus on my training. I was told to prepare for a scheduled outing. I need to be in excellent shape because I want to get back in the ring soon and also make myself available for the national team by May,” Marcial said in a statement.

Marcial will be back in the ring as a pro possibly in April before joining the Philippine team for the 31st Southeast Asian Games on May 12-23, 2022 in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The 26-year-old Marcial made his much-anticipated pro debut on Dec. 16, 2020. He beat American Andrew Whitfield by unanimous decision at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

Marcial is on a hot streak in the Southeast Asian Games, winning gold medals in the last three editions of the biennial meet of Southeast Asian nations.

Marcial arrived in Los Angeles last Jan. 18 (PH time). He’ll be training at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood before moving to Las Vegas in February to train with well-renowned strength and conditioning coach Angel “Memo” Heredia.
