PESCADOR Island in Moalboal town, Cebu, will be closed for three months after it was badly damaged by Typhoon Odette.
In a Sugbo News reports, the news portal of Cebu Provincial Capitol, Moalboal Mayor Paz Rozgoni said this is to give time for the rehabilitation of the disrupted underwater resources surrounding the island.
Tourism activities such as diving, snorkeling, and island hopping are also suspended during the rehabilitation.
However, other dive sites and beaches in Moalboal remain open for tourism activities.
The island is known for its rich marine biodiversity.
The mayor also said that the Provincial Government and Department of Tourism Central Visayas will conduct coral planting in the island. (ANV, CLC)
