THIRTY-FOUR days after the onslaught of Typhoon Odette (Rai), Cebu III Electric Cooperative (Cebeco 3) had restored to 72.34 percent or 76,708 of 105,452 affected households in Toledo City, Pinamungajan, Aloguinsan, Balamban and Asturias, and 11 mountain barangays of Cebu City as of 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

This leaves only 28,744 households that had no power supply in areas served by Cebeco 3.

Typhoon Odette left a total of P68.1 million in damage to the electricity infrastructure of Cebeco 3 such as poles and power lines.

Based on Cebeco 3’s Wednesday report, the biggest jump in reenergization efforts in the power distributor’s franchise area happened in Pinamungajan with an increase of 10.34 percentage points. This after Cebeco 3 restored to 57.20 percent or 8,174 of 14,291 households. Last Tuesday, only 46.86 percent or 6,697 households had power supply. Cebeco 3 aims to restore electricity to the remaining 6,117 households by January 28.

Toledo City came in second with an increase of 5.19 percentage points after the power distributor restored electricity to 61.73 percent or 28,222 of 45,222 households. Last January 19, the power was restored to 25,848 (56.54 percent) of 45,716 households. Cebeco 3 aims to complete the restoration of power to the remaining 17,494 households by January 30.

Cebeco 3 said the power restoration efforts in Balamban were still at 97.79 percent on January 19, after only one of the 516 households reported to have no electricity last January 18 got back its power supply. Cebeco 3 said 22,837 of 23,352 households in Balamban were energized.

The power distributor still aims to restore the power supply in Balamban to 100 percent by January 24.

The reenergization efforts in Asturias town jumped by 2.19 percentage points after the electricity had returned to 95.20 percent or 11,284 of 11,853 households as of Wednesday.

Last Tuesday, the power supply returned to 93.01 percent or 11,025 households in the town. Cebeco 3 aims for full restoration of electricity in Asturias by January 20.

In Aloguinsan, the restoration jumped by 1.25 percentage points after electricity returned to 5,356 (82.50 percent) of 6,492 households from 5,275 (81.25 percent) last January 18. The remaining 1,136 households are expected to get back their power supply by January 26.

In the 11 barangays of Cebu City within the franchise area of Visayan Electric Company that is served by Cebeco 3, the electricity had been restored to 22.28 percent or 835 of 3,748 households. The completion target is by January 31. (KAL)
