OPERATIVES of Bago City Police Station are still at loss as to the motive in the abduction of a backyard hog raiser in broad daylight on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

Lieutenant Colonel JoemMalong, chief of Bago City Police Station, said she already sent investigators to Cauayan town, Negros Occidental to interview the wife of Johnson Ciervo Garfiel, of Barangay Ara-al in La Carlota City, so they could get possible leads.

Malong said they checked the records of police stations both in cities of Bago and La Carlota, as well as other Philippine National Police (PNP) units and found that Garfiel is not involved in illegal drugs.

Garfiel, though, is facing rape charges and was supposed to attend his hearing on Wednesday, January 19, if he was not abducted, she said, adding that his parents told the police that they do not know any known enemy of their son.

Malong said they were also able to secure a cellphone video of the alleged abduction taken by a concerned citizen and sent to Garfiel's cousin.

Based on the short clip, two men wearing helmets were seen forcing Garfiel into what appears to be a white Toyota Avanza vehicle where there are two persons on board, including the driver.

Witnesses claimed that two other suspects on board two separate motorcycles were tailing Garfiel until they reached the area of Purok Margarita in Barangay Abuanan around 10 a.m.

The witnesses added that Garfiel and the two suspects alighted from their motorcycles and had a small talk but few moments later, they heard the victim shouting "wala ko sala ngaa kuhaon niyo ko, tabang (I did not do anything wrong, why would you take me, help)."

As of Thursday, January 20, Malong said they do not know the whereabouts of Garfiel yet or whether is still alive.

She appealed to those who may have an idea about the incident to come out and shed light on the matter.
