THE Cebu III Electric Cooperative (Cebeco 3) had restored power supply to 75.43 percent or 79,541 of 105,452 affected households in its franchise area as of 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2022.

The remaining households that had no electricity dwindled to 25,911, which constitutes 24.57 percent of the total households served by Cebeco 3.

Cebeco 3 distributes electricity to Toledo City (38 barangays) and municipalities of Pinamungajan (26), Aloguinsan (15), Balamban (28) and Asturias (27) on the western side of Cebu.

The power distributor also serves areas outside its franchise area—11 mountain barangays in Cebu City, one of the local government units that is under the franchise area of Visayan Electric Company.

Power lines and poles were toppled during the onslaught of Typhoon Odette (Rai) on Thursday evening, December 16, 2021.

Thirty-six days after Typhoon Odette, Cebeco 3's power restoration efforts have reached all barangays in Pinamungajan, Aloguinsan, Balamban and Asturias. But this does not mean all households in all of the barangays in these municipalities already have electricity.

According to Cebeco 3 in its Thursday report, the reenergization efforts in Balamban had been stuck at 97.79 percent since Wednesday, January 19.

Electricity had returned to 22,837 of 23,352 households as of January 20, and only 515 households remain without power. These are the same numbers reported by Cebeco 3 last January 19.

Cebeco 3 now has changed its target of full power restoration in Balamban to a full week—from January 24 to January 31.

In Asturias, the electricity had returned to 95.27 percent or 11,025 of the 11,853 total households served by Cebeco 3.

Cebeco 3 also moved its target of complete reenergization in Asturias by eight days, from January 20 to January 28.

In Aloguinsan, electricity returned to 5,356 (82.50 percent) of 6,492 households, and the remaining 1,136 households are expected to get back their electricity by January 26.

Cebeco 3 reported that in Toledo, the city still had 16,488 households that had no electricity as of January 20. This after power supply returned to only 29,228 (63.93 percent) of 45,716 households. Cebeco 3 aims to complete the power restoration by either January 30 or January 31.

In Pinamungajan, power supply had been restored to 69.93 percent or 9,993 of 14,291 households. Cebeco 3 aims to restore electricity to the remaining 7,594 households by January 28.

In the 11 barangays of Cebu City served by Cebeco 3, the electricity had been restored to 22.28 percent or 835 of 3,748 households. The target date of full power restoration is still January 31. (KAL)
