THE vaccination hub in People’s Park Davao will reopen on Monday, January 24, following a series of decontamination after healthcare workers tested positive for coronavirus.

Dr. Michelle Schlosser, spokesperson of the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force, said in a radio interview on Friday, January 21, that the People’s Park is thoroughly disinfected and healthcare workers are negative in the RT-PCR tests in preparation for its reopening.

“Rest assured naman na after the contamination, tanan na employee and healthcare worker na i-deploy nato didto is RT-PCR negative and ang People’s Park is limpyo pag open nato on Monday (Rest assured that after the contamination, all employees and healthcare workers that we will deploy is RT-PCR negative and that People’s Park is disinfected once we open on Monday),” said Schlosser.

The closure was implemented after a number of vaccination personnel assigned in People’s Park tested positive for the virus.

As of Friday, January 21, Schlosser said they have already confirmed 24 cases.

“Gi-test nato tanan (and) we were able to know na naay ana na number of cases and right away gi-stop nato ang operation,” she said. “Although it saddens us, kinahanglan gyod nato sarad-an ang People’s Park kay priority nato ang limpyohan siya (We tested everyone so we were able to know how many were infected. Right away, we suspended the operation. Although it saddens us, we needed to close People’s Park because our priority is to disinfect).”

Similarly, a school-site vaccination hub in Barangay Toril has also temporarily closed since January 19 following reports of contamination.

“(In People’s Park) wala’y ongoing Covid-related symptoms and decontaminated ang area. The same goes with Toril area na vaccination site among buhaton,” she said.

Schlosser said the Task Force’s priority is to ensure that vaccination hubs are safe for everyone, especially People’s Park since it is one of the biggest vaccination sites in the city.

“Top 1 gyod na daghan mabakunahan is ang People’s Park because dili lang siya walk in, it also has drive-thru para sa mga senior citizen, naa pud pediatric vaccination, so mura syag one stop vaccination hub (A lot of people get vaccinated at People’s Park because it caters walk-ins, drive through for senior citizens and people with comorbidities, and pediatric vaccination. It’s like a one-stop vaccination hub),” she said.
