83% of Metro Cebu’s affected households now energized

The Visayas Electric Company has powered up 83 percent of its total franchise area just more than a month since Typhoon Odette affected much of Metro Cebu.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, Visayan Electric announced that as of Saturday noon, January 22, 2022, it has energized around 396,168 out of its 474,182 affected customers.

Energized areas are from the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Talisay, and Naga and from the municipalities of San Fernando, Minglanilla, Consolacion and Liloan.

As of Saturday, areas that have been energized by Visayan Electric are portions of Cabangahan, Cotcot, Yati and Calero in Liloan town; portions of Tayud and Jugan in Consolacion; and portions of Labogon, Jagobiao, at P. Remedio St. in Banilad, Centro, and A. Bonifacio St. in Mandaue City.

On Sunday, January 23, the power distributor announced that it will be deploying some of its personnel in some portions of the towns of Liloan, Consolacion, Minglanilla and San Fernando and the cities of Mandaue, Cebu, Talisay and Naga to help in restoring power in those areas.

In a related development, the Cebu 3 Electric Cooperative Inc. (Cebeco 3) announced in an update that 80.08 percent of households under its franchise area have already been energized.

Cebeco 3 covers the city of Toledo and the municipalities of Pinamungajan, Aloguinsan, Balamban, Asturias and some mountain barangays under Cebu City.

In Toledo City, around 31,785 out of its 45,716 households are now energized by Cebeco 3, leaving only 13,931 still without power until now.

In Pinamungajan, around 12,015 out of 14,291 households are now energized. Only 2,276 households in the town still have no power.

In Aloguinsan, around 5,447 out of 6,492 households are now energized through Cebeco 3, with only 1,045 households still without power until now.

In Balamban, around 22,858 out of 23,352 households are now energized, with only 494 households left still without power.

In Asturias, around 11,310 out of 11,853 households now have power while 543 households will have to wait until their connections will be fixed.

While in some areas in Cebu City that are covered by Cebeco 3, around 1,028 out of 3,748 households are now energized, leaving only 2,720 houses still without power. (JKV, PR)
