A FORMER employee of a convenience store and an associate engineer were arrested during the drug bust in Barangay Hipodromo, Cebu City on Saturday afternoon, January 22, 2022.

Operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit in Central Visayas (RPDEU 7) arrested Raymond Lobetos, 28; and Miller Mongez, 30, both residents of the said barangay.

Recovered from their possession were at least 200 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value worth P510,000.

Lieutenant Colonel Failoga, RPDEU 7 chief, said Lobetos can be considered as high value drug target due to the large quantity of drugs in his possession.

Lobetos formerly worked at a convenience store in Cebu City but lost his job when the company decided to lay off some of its employees after being affected by the crisis brought by Covid-19 pandemic.

Mongez, on the other hand, is an associate engineer.

Failoga said they were able to secure the name of Lobetos’s drug supplier but he refused to disclose the name of the supplier until they will be able to apprehend him in their follow-up operations.

The two are now facing charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (BBT / TPT)
