IPs receive financial aid as Barmm celebrates anniversary

ZAMBOANGA. THE Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Mipa-Barmm) conducted a series of ceremonial awarding of financial assistance Thursday, January 20, to indigenous peoples (IPs) beneficiaries in Barmm.

Mipa Minister Melanio Ulama, who led the awarding of financial assistance, said it was part of the celebration of Barmm’s founding anniversary.

Ulama said a total of 230 primary level indigenous students each received educational assistance worth P4,370, while 50 IP farmers each received organic concoction and extracts and P2,620 cash aid.

Ulama said the Takut-takut Al-Hadiyah Badjao Sam Fishermen Cooperative from Sulu was the recipient of a P400,000 financial assistance.

Ulama said 25 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Itaw village in South Upi, Maguindanao were granted their National Certificate Level II (NC II) for completing skills training on carpentry.

He said they were also provided an allowance worth P6,560 and additional P1,000 for their personal protective equipment.

He said the agency, through its provincial project officers and coordinators, will continuously distribute similar cash assistance to other IP beneficiaries next week. (SunStar Zamboanga)
