GOVERNOR Dennis Pineda provided free swab test and blood sampling for bird farms and breeders in Porac to ensure that birds are free from any viral infection that may affect other fowls and disrupt the local commercial industry.
With the assistance of the Provincial Veterinary Office, the test is conducted every six months in all accredited farms of the Department of Agriculture.
Using the test results, it can be determined if a bird is carrying a viral infection, such as bird flu.
The test subjects include birds such as ducks, mallards, fowl, poultry layers and quail, among others.
Several pigeon breeders had their birds tested.
Porac town has a strong pigeon racing community with several private breeders raising dozens of racing pigeons for sports.
This program is one of Pineda's programs to ensure that birds coming from the province are virus-free and healthy.
