NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson may return to work Tuesday, January 25, 2022, as he is already recuperating from coronavirus disease (Covid-19), a provincial official said Monday.

Provincial Administrator lawyer Rayfrando Diaz II said the governor is already feeling good and has been asking when he can come back to work.

Under the Department of Health (DOH) guidelines, isolation of coronavirus-positive patients with mild symptoms could be shortened to five days.

The governor started to manifest mild symptoms of the disease on Wednesday last week, prompting him to go on a five-day isolation but was furthern extended to 10 days, which is supposed to end by Monday after he tested positive for the virus.

“We would like to make sure that the immune system of our governor is already in stable condition (before allowing him to resume work),” Diaz said.

The Provincial Capitol Building in Bacolod City has been on lockdown since Monday, January 24, and disinfection is ongoing after 21 employees, aside from Lacson, were also tested Covid-19 positive.

Diaz said skeletal force has been assigned at the offices at the Capitol and also at the PNB and provincial multi-purpose buildings, Negros Residences, and Food Terminal.
