THE government has initially procured 15 million doses of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) Pfizer vaccines intended for children aged five to 11, National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 medical adviser Dr. Ted Herbosa said on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.

Herbosa said the first delivery, which includes 780,000 doses of Pfizer pediatric Covid-19 vaccine formulation, is expected on January 31, and it will be followed by another 1.8 million doses several days later.

“Ibang doses ito mas mababa at two doses din ang bibigay sa ating mga bata,” he said during a Laging Handa public briefing.

“Makakapag-umpisa tayo sa NCR (National Capital Region) at usually, tuloy-tuloy na ang pagdeliver ng Pfizer nyan every week ng kanilang requirement na ideliver para sa ating pediatric vaccination,” he added.

Herbosa said there are about seven million children under the said age group in the country.

In his report to President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday evening, January 24, NTF chief implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. said the pilot vaccination of the said age group will begin on February 4 in the National Capital Region.

Herbosa said they are expecting that the pediatric vaccination will be implemented nationwide by the second week of February. (SunStar Philippines)
