A SANGGUNIAN Kabataan (SK) council member in Angeles City, Pampanga was among the arrested 14 individuals involved in alleged illegal cockfighting.
SK Kagawad Margarita Tajale, 21, from Barangay Malabanias, was arrested in Barangay Calzadang Bayu in Porac town during a raid conducted by local authorities.
Other arrested individuals include Renato Cayanan, 70; Angelito Samson, 43; Jayson Icban, 25; Jayson Gopez, 33; John Yusi, 27; Raul Sunglao, 77; Edwin Icban, 33; Joselito Manalo, 52; Federico Dagatan, 63; Ricky Gegante, 52; Renato Manarang, 45; Ursonel Canlas, 22; and Eufoldo Yusi, 50.
Joint personnel from the Police Intelligence Unit (PIU) of the Pampanga Provincial Police Office (PPO) led by Police Captain Renz Principe, Porac Municipal Police Station under the supervision of Police Major Jaafar, and Angeles City PIU conducted the anti-illegal gambling operation.
Confiscated pieces of evidence include cash bet money worth P8,340, three live and two dead fighting cock, and two pieces gaff.
The arrested individuals and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the PPO PIU Office in the City of San Fernando for filing of criminal complaints before the Pampanga Provincial Prosecutor’s Office for violation of Presidential Decree 1602, or Laws on Illegal Cockfighting, and Republic Act 11332, or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.
