OVER P1 million worth of substance believed to be shabu was seized in separate buy-bust operations at the cities of San Carlos and Silay in Negros Occidental on Monday, January 24.

The operations also led to the arrest of a high-value target.

San Carlos City Police chief Lieutenant Colonel Jesus Mesahon Jr. said they arrested Cesar Pasigay in Sitio Tul-an, Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City around 11:30 p.m.

Pasigay, 47, is considered the number 8 drug personality of San Carlos City, Mesahon said, adding that they are investigating his link with the top drug personality arrested earlier this month and yielded P10.2 million of substance believed to be shabu.

He said they are yet to establish where Pasigay is getting his supply and where are his areas of operation.

Recovered from Pasigay during his arrest were a pouch containing eight sachets of the banned substance weighing about 160 grams and valued at P1,088,000, and a plastic bag containing the P90,000 marked money.

Additional P1,660 in cash believed to be cash proceeds from illegal drug trade and a motorcycle were also recovered from Pasigay, who is now detained at the San Carlos City police.

Pasigay's arrest was conducted by the joint elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Regional Drugs Enforcement Unit (RDEU).

Meanwhile, Silay City Police Station chief Colonel Robert Petate reported the apprehension of John Andrew Ferrer, 31, of Fortuna Subdivision in Barangay 5, and Liezl Bitalac, 44, of Looney 2 Street in Barangay Mambulac, both in Silay City on Monday, January 24.

Petate said Ferrer was arrested during a buy-bust operation around 7:30 p.m. at Centerpoint, Phase 2 in Barangay Guinhalaran with six sachets of substance believed to be shabu weighing about 10 grams and valued at P68,000 and P1,600 marked money.
