Man shot dead inside Vendor's Plaza; eatery owner in San Carlos killed

A JOBLESS man was found dead with a gunshot wound on his head inside the Bacolod Vendors Plaza around 4 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2022.

Major Ramel Sarona, commander of Police Station 1, identified the victim as Eduardo Dinota of Barangay 8, Bacolod City.

Sarona said Dinota was identified by his aunt at the morgue Tuesday.

He said they do not have any suspects yet as no one was able to witness the killing.

Sarona added that in fact, none of the occupants of the vendor's plaza knew him.

As of Tuesday, January 25, investigators of Police Station 1 are coordinating with Dinota's family to determine his background although initial investigation showed that he has no criminal records.

In San Carlos, an eatery owner was shot dead at the city's public market past 11 a.m. Tuesday for an unknown reason.

The victim was identified as Wilmar Sy, 32, of Villarante Village in Barangay 1, duty investigator Master Sergeant Jose Sanny Boy Algarme said.

Initial investigation showed that the victim was inside his eatery when the Tagalog-speaking suspect arrived onboard on a pedicab and shot him without provocation.

Sy died on his way to the San Carlos City Hospital.

The motive for the shooting is still being investigated. (With reports from APN)
