BOC exceeds 2021 target by 2%

THE Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of Davao has exceeded its annual target for the year 2021 by two percent, reaching P37.99 billion in collected revenue.

In a press statement released on January 21, the revenue of BOC-Davao has reached P37,985,338,773 in duties and taxes, which is a two percent increase from its original target of P37,241,475,761.41.

BOC-Davao now has a surplus of P743,863,011.59.

In 2020, the collection revenue exceeded by 23.60 percent as P30,483,191,012.59 was collected from BOC-Davao’s annual target of P24,663,729,934.38.

“Despite the pandemic, the Port has been exceeding its annual target. In 2020, it had surpassed its revenue collection target of P24.66 billion,” BOC-Davao said.

The bureau also processed a total of 45,843 transactions of goods declaration for the year 2021. It has a total volume of 11,086.92 million kilograms worth over P36,948.28 million.

Among these were consumption goods worth P36,940.07 million in duties, taxes, and other charges, transit goods worth P2.58 million, and warehousing goods valued at P5.63 million.

“You can note that there has been an increase in the number of transactions in our principal port. There has been an increase in the volume despite the unfavorable conditions brought on by the pandemic,” said lawyer Erastus Austria, district collector of BOC-Davao, during a virtual presser on January 21, 2022.

Meanwhile, the Port of Davao also partnered with the Pfizer Overseas LLC in 2021 to facilitate the release of 165,750 vials and 172,800 vials of diluents that totals to 994,500 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for Covid-19.

About 87,750 vials equaling to 526,500 doses of the same vaccine also came in from Pfizer Inc.

With regards to protective equipment and medical supplies, BOC-Davao oversaw 29 shipments, including 16 shipments of face masks, six shipments of face shields, five for medical equipment, and two for personal protective equipment.

“The BOC-Davao also plays an important role in making sure that vaccines and all protective equipment are released on time. We have a special task force here that works very closely with the local government unit, as well as the Department of Health and the City Health Office to ensure that the release of these goods, vaccines in particular, are expedited so there are no unnecessary delays,” said Austria.
