P41-M shabu seized in Makati; 2 suspects arrested

ANTI-narcotics operatives arrested in a drug bust in Makati City on Wednesday, January 26, two drug suspects who yielded nearly P41 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu).

Philippine National Police (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group (DEG) Director Brigadier General Remus Medina identified the suspects as Bryan Salceda, 26, and Jerome Gaje, 27.

The drug bust took place along Hilario Street in Barangay Palanan around 7:30 p.m.

Recovered from the suspects were around six kilograms of shabu valued at P40.8 million and which was concealed in a Chinese tea packaging.

On Tuesday, January 25, members of the National Capital Region Police Office Southern Police District seized two kilograms of shabu worth P13.6 million and arrested Aldren Mariscal, 21, in Barangay Bangkal, Makati City.

A suspect identified as Janesa Cabardo Canoy, 25, was also nabbed in a drug bust in Barangay Bagong Silang, Caloocan on Tuesday, January 25.

Recovered from Canoy were two kilograms of shabu worth P13.6 million and which was also hidden inside a Chinese tea packaging.

In Parañaque, authorities arrested Kennedy Balan, 25, and Maynard Delos Santos, 28, in a drug bust in Barangay Tambo.

Seized from them were 50 grams of shabu worth around P340,000.

DEG Acting Deputy Director for Operations Colonel Roel Rodolfo said they are conducting further investigation to arrest the suspects’ cohorts and determine the source of the seized contraband.

The suspects will be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (SunStar Philippines)
