THE Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday, January 29, 2022, reported over 17,000 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases and 70 additional deaths.
In its Saturday case bulletin, the DOH said 17,382 new Covid-19 cases were recorded, bringing the total cases in the country to 3,528,796.
The positivity rate in the Philippines stood at 33.3 percent from the 56,447 tested samples on January 27.
The DOH also reported 70 additional deaths, raising the total mortalities to 53,871 or a case fatality rate of 1.53 percent.
The health department also reported 35,382 additional recoveries, bringing the total to 3,261,338 survivors.
The DOH said the recovery rate stood at 92.4 percent.
Less deaths and recoveries, the health department logged 213,587 active Covid-19 cases.
Majority of the active cases, with over 199,000, were mild cases, followed by more than 8,700 asymptomatic cases. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
