Gunowners asked to surrender firearms with expired licenses

THE Mabalacat city police have urged gun owners to surrender firearms with expired licenses.

This is in line with the directive of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Dionardo B. Carlos, said Mabalacat City police chief Heryl L. Bruno.

The city police chief said unregistered firearms must be surrendered to the police station.

Bruno said their intensified drive against loose firearms dubbed Oplan Katok resulted in the surrendering of assorted undocumented guns for safekeeping.

Meanwhile, six individuals were arrested during an anti-drug buy-bust operation conducted by the city police in Barangay Dau, Mabalacat City recently.

Bruno identified the suspects as Lenly Perez of Barangay Dau; Carmina Pineda of Bamban, Tarlac; Angelo Joseph Santos of Barangay Dau; John Clark Tilve also of Dau; John Miclat of Camias, Magalang; and Joey Miclat also of Camias, Magalang.

Seized from the suspects were suspected shabu weighing 1.3 grams worth P8,840.

The six are now facing charges in court for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

"Mabalacat police will continue its unwavering efforts to eradicate illegal drugs to fulfill its commitment

for a drug-free Mabalacat City through our continuous conduct of anti-illegal drugs operations," Bruno said.
