Taxi service launch in Zamboanga City airport

TAXI services are now available at the Zamboanga International Airport (ZIA).

This, as ZIA, in coordination with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) and the City Government, launched Monday, January 31, the Asia's Latin City Transport Services Cooperative (Altscoop) taxi operation within the airport premises.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Cliamco-Salazar said Monday, January 31, that the launching was highlighted by the signing of the Letter of Agreement and Coordinating Procedures with agencies composing the Passenger Security and Safety (Passa).

Engineer Jaime Vicente Santos, ZIA officer-in-charge, said that a similar arrangement with motorized tricycles is also in the offing.

The initiative seeks to eliminate the long-time problem on overcharging drivers plying the airport route.

Salazar, who graced the formal launching ceremony, thanked the ZIA and all stakeholders for the initiative, which she said is fully supported by the City Government in line with its thrust on "Comida, Curada y Busca vida na tiempo de pandemia (Food, Health, and Livelihood in this time of the pandemic)."
