IN ITS intensified campaign against all illegal drugs, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has recovered about 3,219.298 grams of suspected shabu valued at about P21.8 million in January 2022.

Major Sherlock Gabana, spokesperson of BCPO, said they arrested 62 drug personalities in 56 operations they conducted.

Gabana said three of these personalities were considered high-value individuals (HVIs), adding that 73 cases were filed in court for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

In its campaign against wanted persons, BCPO conducted 61 police operations during the month-long intensified drive.

These resulted in the arrest of 24 most wanted persons and 37 other wanted persons charged with various offenses.

For the campaign against loose firearms, 15 initiated police operations resulted in the arrest of six violators and confiscation of two homemade firearms and four short arms.

In the continuous information drive of the Philippine National Police (PNP)’s “Oplan Katok,” a program on annual verification of firearms, a total of nine homemade firearms, two explosives, and another small firearm were recovered by BCPO.

Six cases were filed against the suspects for violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

BCPO Director Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir commended the operating units and their personnel for a “job well done” and in their relentless effort through police-initiated operations to lessen criminality.

The BCPO director also vowed to always give the Bacolodnons a safe place to live.

As the BCPO embraces the local and national elections, Martir said everybody’s commitment to making the community peaceful is encouraged by doing their own share in maintaining peace and order.
