Pangan: The train of life

THE theme of this column was suggested and expounded by my friend, supremo Rosan S. Paquia, who shared his insights and experiences toward the completion of this piece.

There are numerous challenges we have to face, have faced and will surely face in our journey, quipped Rosan in his usual ebullient style, but to all these, we come to terms with each one of them.

Our lives may then be compared to journeys aboard a train that has stops along its path and each stop denotes the spot where we disembark as we fade away at the end of our lives.

Inside this train are passengers of different ages, professions and outlooks in life and various in behavior and character. Each character has distinct qualities and peculiarities.

And, as one character alights at his designated stop, we say goodbye to him or her and speak about his or her life, how he or she has lived his/her earthly life, until we forget all about him or her.

Each passenger may have either a short or long journey; a distinguished one or a shady existence. Some may alight at the nearest stop while others remain on board for the longest time.

In this journey, we come to make friends and enemies, people we dont communicate pleasantly with. We are all guided by our principles and scruples but other passengers may not possess these attributes at all!

I'd like to say thanks to Assistant Mall Manager Rommel Garcia Gutierrez of SM Cabanatuan who attended to us (wife Josie, son Juancho, in-law Tey and the driver of the van we rode in) in our visit to the mall last week, through the instruction of SAVP Junias Eusebio and SVP Bien Mateo. Thanks a lot, guys!
