Spectrum runners shine in Bayawan City race

JEROME Casinillo and Evamie Villarin both from Cebu-based Spectrum Runners Club nabbed titles in the Tawo-Tawo Festival 2022 Half Marathon in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental on Sunday, February 6, 2022.

The team’s rising star Casinillo registered a personal best time of 1 hour and 14 minutes to win the men’s 21-kilometer crown.

Villarin also had a record-breaking run and registered a new personal best of 1:31.34 to win the women’s half-marathon race. Spectrum’s Josie Asoy finished in third place.

Villarin is one of the team’s top long-distance runners. She’s the reigning champion of the All-Women Ultramarathon, a famous 50K race in Cebu.

The team extended its dominance in the short distance race, winning both the men’s and women’s divisions of the 5K category. Jovan Bensig topped the men’s division while Catherine Pionela ruled the women’s side.

Jesry Cruz and Jamine Cruz also made it to the podium, finishing at third place in the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively.

Meanwhile, Mark Mahinay finished at second place in the men’s 10K race with a new personal best of 34 minutes.
