The Sipalay City Government announced over the weekend that the official Facebook account of Mayor Maria Gina Lizares was hacked Thursday evening, February 3.
A post at the city's Facebook page urged the public to "disregard any communication or request from the account under the name "Gina Montilla" as it is currently used by the hacker.
"Kindly confirm, report, and send us a screenshot of this particular Facebook account if you have received messages asking for money or donations," it added.
Initial report showed that there are already three persons who sent money to the person using the account of Montilla.
One sent P15,000 believing that it's Lizares who was asking help while one of her executive assistants sent P27,000.
The city government is currently conducting an investigation to trace the suspects behind it and has asked the help of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into the matter.*
