PERSONNEL of the 2nd Marine Brigade (2MBde) underwent a computer literacy training on Sunday, February 6, in Tawi-Tawi courtesy of the autonomous region's Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education-Technical Education and Skill Development (MBHTE-TESD).

The training was aimed to enhance the computer proficiency of the 2MBde personnel.

The MBHTE-TESD Tawi-Tawi inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Philippine Marine Corps on January 22 to foster partnership for the skills development of the men and women of the 2MBde.

Colonel Nestor Narag, 2MBde deputy commander, said the MOU was in line with the inter-agency cooperation initiatives of the Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi among partner agencies in the province, in support to Executive Order 70 issued by the Office of the President in 2018, calling for the institutionalization of the "Whole-Of-Nation Approach" in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace and development within the Joint Area of Operation.

Captain Romeo Castelo Jr., 2MBde Civil Military Operation officer, said the training aimed to improve the participants' skills on computer operations and capacitate them on learning new applications.

"This is going to be a three-Sunday training, which starts initially with Microsoft Office," Castelo said.

Dr. Maryam Nuruddin, MBHTE-TESD Tawi-Tawi provincial director, expressed willingness to assist the marines in their desire to be trained on basic computer literacy course.

"I am happy that we have established partnership and collaboration with our men in uniform who asked for skills training offered by TESD. And since it is our mandate, we do not hesitate to serve those in need of our services," Nuruddin said.

TESD staff Elmin Arsad served as trainer of the whole day activity held at Toong Hall of the 2MBde headquarters in Sanga-Sanga, Bongao, the capital of Tawi-Tawi. (SunStar Zamboanga)
