DUROS Group, headed by its chairman Rafaelito A. Barino, holds its 9th State of Duros Address (Soda), a look at the year that was, for the company’s different businesses. It is also held, by tradition, on the first Friday of the year.
In his speech, Barino mentioned that Typhoon Odette (Rai) did not spare the homegrown company. Structures were devastated. There was no electricity, water was scarce, and there was limited phone signal and means of communication.
Still, Duros Group rose to the challenge and was able to dispatch at least 300,000 liters of water for 8,000 families within Cebu, provide heavy equipment and dump trucks to help road clearing in the town of Liloan, deliver diesel fuel to churches, seminaries and private institutions, donate rice and food packs to various communities and barangays, and offer free use of generator sets.
The company has much to look forward to in 2022, including the opening of its new hotel, the Cebu Quincentennial Hotel, as well as the opening of One Tectona Hotel, a condotel, residential and SoHo (small office, home office) building. (PR)
