A POLICEMAN was shot and killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur province, the police reported Wednesday, February 9, 2022.
Police Colonel Diomarie Albarico, Zamboanga del Sur police director, identified the victim as Police Corporal Marcelino Bermudes Ferrer, 29, a resident of Pasobolong village, Zamboanga City.
Ferrer was assigned with the Zamboanga Del Sur 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company based at Camp Major Reginaldo Abelon in Pagadian City.
Albarico said that Ferrer was shot and killed around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, in Purok Mahigalaon, Bulatok village, Pagadian City.
He said a video captured through closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera showed that a motorcycle driven by an unidentified man with female back rider came from the crime scene and sped toward the upper portion of Bulatok village.
Recovered from the crime scene were an empty shell of a 9-millimeter pistol and the victim's motorcycle.
Albarico has ordered the Pagadian City police to conduct a thorough probe into the incident to identify and arrest the persons behind the incident. (SunStar Zamboanga)
