THE Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) has completed the construction of the P3.5-million municipal hall and is building a P25-million public market in Special Geographical Area in Midsayap, North Cotabato.

Lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo, Barmm’s minister of the interior and local government, said Thursday, February 10, that the completed town hall was built in Sambulawan village, while the public market will be constructed in Kapinpilan village in Midsayap town.

Sinarimbo said both projects were funded by the MILG, through the Bangsamoro Local Economic Support Service (BLESS) for the public market, and Local Government Facilities Development Project (LGFDP) for the town hall.

The inauguration of the town hall and groundbreaking of the public market project was held Tuesday, February 8, with top officials of Barmm in attendance.

Sinarimbo said public markets rising across strategic locations in the region are one of the priority projects of Barmm Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim.

"Public market would provide venue for locals who want to sell their products while encouraging individuals from other places to trade their commodities as well," Sinarimbo said.

Sambulawan Village Chairperson Kadir Abdul expressed his gratitude to the Barmm government for the completion of the new town hall.

"We are grateful to Barmm for this project as it would make the government closer to its people," Abdul said.

"Chief Minister Ebrahim really wants the government to be close to the people so that they can feel our presence," Sinarimbo added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
