2 dead, 7 hurt in Zamboanga Sibugay mishap

TWO persons died, while seven others were wounded in a vehicular accident in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Friday, February 11.

The Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office said the accident happened around 3 p.m. Thursday, February 10, along the national highway in Purok 3, Del Monte village, Buug.

The police identified the two fatalities as Junward Bacacao Ramillano, 29, and John Faith Bacacao Ramillano, 19.

They were rushed to the hospital but were declared dead on arrival by the attending physicians.

Wounded were Alvin Arante Villarosa, 28; Ariane Ramos Ramillano, 28; Florinda Moridas Fernandez, 51; Rosita Fernandez Balbiena, 52; Mary Jane Armateo Ramillano, 28; Shelo Armateo, 28; and Jeycie Bacacao Ramillano, 28.

Investigation showed that the victims were aboard a truck driven by Villarosa traveling from Basalem village, Buug, to the town of Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The police said the truck bumped onto the left side of a parked 10-wheeler wing van as Villarosa lost control of the steering wheel.

Both vehicles were damaged due to the impact of the collision. (SunStar Zamboanga)
