THE union of two beautiful hearts came very timely as we came closer to the annual celebration of Valentine's Day on February 14.

Chef Don Angelo Colmenares, a councilor of Hinigaran town and the only son of prominent couple, entrepreneur Mary Ann and former board member Angelito "Nonoy" Colmenares, tied the knot with Kimberly Teng, a former flight attendant, in an Alfresco wedding held at Manggapuri Chapel in Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental on February 4, 2022.

Don is a known figure in culinary arts being a chef, a restaurateur, and a public servant.

At the same time, his wife, Kim, has once functioned as a flight attendant of the Philippine Airlines before the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Their beautiful love story bloomed when they were introduced by their common friends in a retro-style speakeasy bar in Manila.

Chef Don admitted it was a "love at first sight" experience when he met Kim as a new acquaintance.

"It was funny because we met with the help of our friends. I thank God that He intended us to meet because every time I tell people about how we meet, they always look off, and sometimes they are very surprised," he shared.

Don vowed to his wife before God, his family, and friends: "Today is the day where forever starts for us. I am a believer in love at first sight. After years and years of searching for that love, it finally happened. I am not just marrying you and your family. But I am also marrying your 50 personalities, your 50 types of mood swings, and yet I still find you the perfect human being in the world."

He continued, "As the saying goes, "happy wife, happy life. That will be my daily mantra from now on because that is what I learned from my parents and that love knows no bounds. And that love for your partner is unconditional. And I unconditionally love you with all my heart."

In her response, Kim said, "I always pray that God will lead me to this day, to have you as my husband. I praise him today as His will is being fulfilled. I promised to be your navigator, best friend, and wife. And I promise to honor, love and cherish you through all life's adventures. Wherever we go, we will go together. I cannot wait to build a beautiful life together, and because of you, I can feel myself truly becoming what I have always dreamed of. I love you forever."

The bride is the daughter of couple Hian Kim and Katherine Teng.

Reverend Father Raymon Asoy told the couple, "The greatest investment in life is not in money, wealth, or career. The greatest investment and achievement in life is in love. You can never go wrong if you invest in love."

Don's mother, Mary Ann, shared her message to his son and daughter-in-law, "As you start your life together, wake up every day with gratitude in your hearts. Always be a blessing to each other and hold each other's hand wherever life takes you. Let love always be your guide. We are happy for the new couple, and we look forward to having grandchildren soon."

Don and Kim's among the prominent godparents were Sixth District Rep. Genaro "Lim-ao" Alvarez and his daughter, former congresswoman Mercedes "Cheding" Alvarez.

Rev. Fr. Ronel "Theloy" Palivino officiated the wedding rites with Rev. Father Raymon Asoy.
