FIVE senior officers of the Army's 1st "Tabak" Infantry Division (ID) have been promoted to the next higher rank.

Promoted were Majors Arnel Fabriaga, Malvin Ligutan, Elzhoor Jimlah, and Michael Victoria, who were given the rank of Lieutenant Colonels; and Captain Maria Kristine German, who was promoted to Major.

Brigadier General Jose Randolf Sino Cruz, 1ID assistant division commander, done the rank to the newly promoted officers during the regular Monday, February 14, flag ceremony at Camp Major Cesar Sang-an in Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.

"Promotion is a reward given to those who worked hard in the service, and whoever receives such a reward should expect to be given more responsibilities," Sino Cruz told the newly promoted officers.

Fabriaga is the Service Support Battalion commander; Ligutan, deputy chief of the Civil-Military Operations office; Jimlah, chief of the Office of the Division Special Service; Victoria, chief of the Office of Ethical Standards and Public Accountability; and German, executive officer of Camp Cesar Sang-an Station Hospital.

Meanwhile, "Tabak" troopers who were victims of Typhoon Odette received financial assistance from the 1ID.

A total of 36 personnel were greatly affected by the typhoon and all of them will be receiving assistance from the Division.

The grant of financial assistance was made possible through the efforts of Chief Master Sergeant Melchor Bitara, 1ID Sergeant Major. (SunStar Zamboanga)
