Transformative leadership is measured on how it is able to mold people to become more productive and persuasive. Few years back, I ran a descriptive research on the “Handsome Men of Cebu” as a sequel to a previous article on beautiful women. These inspired me to produce and direct the two musicales of Zonta Club of Cebu, “Women Legends” and ”Legends of Men.” But my readers wanted more in-depth articles. So, in my graduate school class on “Executive Development” in the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), we analyzed a few leadership styles, using the model on the 24 Lessons in Performance Management of Danny Cox and John Hoover.

“The ultimate reward for the leader of people is to be able to say, ‘I saw someone grow today, and I helped.’” What type of a leader are you? Authoritative? Compassionate? Charismatic? Transformative? Reactive? Proactive? For most of my students who own or are executives of big companies, the “Transformative leader is most productive, one with an outstanding ability and commitment, loyalty, pride, and followers ready to accept guidance (The Lombardi Rules).”

Cebu is the Haven of Transformative Leaders. Aside from a few “inputs” and experiences of my students and friends, the following male leaders from the socio-business sectors (government service and media excluded) transformed their employees and communities to become self-sufficient.

I also made my own listing of those I have worked with:

American Chamber: John Domingo, Danny Deen and Wilson Ng.
