POSTERS and tarpaulins of Gov.Gwendolyn Garcia that also bear the faces of national candidates are not a sign of declaration of support from the One Cebu party.

This is what Deputy House Speaker and One Cebu Secretary General Pablo John “PJ” Garcia told SunStar Cebu Monday, Feb. 14, 2022.

The team of Liloan Mayor Christina Garcia-Frasco and her husband Rep. Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco had issued a press release that speculated on whether One Cebu was finally endorsing the tandem of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte-Carpio for president and vice president in the May 2022 elections.

According to Frasco’s press release dated Feb. 13, the question was raised in an event in the Camotes Islands where tarpaulins bore the faces of the governor and the congressman together with Marcos Jr. and Duterte-Carpio.

“In the ceremony, tarpaulins with a backdrop of Cong. Duke, Gov. Gwen and UniTeam BBM Sara were mounted at the venue,” read a portion of the press release.

PJ said in his capacity as Secretary-General, the party has not endorsed a presidential candidate yet.

He added that the party certainly did not print any tarpaulins with a presidential candidate on them.

Garcia-Frasco announced that she will support the BBM-Duterte tandem during a December 2021 gathering with members of the League of the Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Cebu chapter, of which she is the president.

However, Garcia-Frasco clarified later on that the announcement she made was in her capacity as the president of LMP-Cebu, not as a member of One Cebu.

During the proclamation rally of Aksyon Demokratiko on Feb. 8, PJ personally endorsed Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso for president.

PJ said Domagoso is a leader who lets his actions and accomplishments do the talking.

In recent interviews, PJ said One Cebu has not decided on its official bets for president and vice president as there is still a possibility that an aspiring candidate could be disqualified from running for office.
