Four persons were injured including two minors after an oxygen tank exploded inside their house at Abada Escay in Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City past noon yesterday, February 14.
Injured were Cyrus Cantiga, 32; Efren Villafor, 70; and the two children, both seven years old.
Bacolod Fire Marshal Chief Inspector Rodel Legaspi said a volunteer from the Amity Fire Volunteer Brigade informed them of the incident.
He said the house owned by Corazon Cantiga, 69, was made of mixed concrete and light materials. It was destroyed because of the strong explosion of the oxygen tank which is used for filling air to balloons.
Legaspi said Cantiga sustained laceration and multiple abrasions at upper and lower parts of his body while Villamor also sustained abrasion at the deltoids.
The two minors also sustained abrasions in different parts of their bodies.
Legaspi said the explosion destroyed P240,000 worth of properties.
He said they already coordinated with Police Station 7 for further investigation.
Captain Elmer Bonilla, chief of Police Station 7, said due to the strong impact of the explosion, some houses near the area were also damaged.
Meanwhile, a fire hit a single storey residential house at Purok Yanson Uno at Eroreco Subdivision in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City at about 1 p.m. yesterday.
No injuries or casualties were reported but the fire destroyed P360,000 worth of properties, the Bureau of Fire Protection said.
Investigation showed that the house made of mixed concrete and light materials is owned by Larry Fernandez. The fire originated from his bedroom.*
