MAGALANG Mayor Romy Pecson has vowed to continue implementing programs to make this first-class agricultural town a safe and business-friendly municipality.

The mayor said this after receiving recently the 2021 Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Adac) award from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and National Anti-Drug Abuse Council.

Only eight towns out of the 21 cities and municipalities in Pampanga were given the Adac award for their programs against illegal drugs.

Aside from the mayor, other officials who formally received the award from DILG Magalang head Lydia Baltazar were Municipal Administrator Lyndon Cunanan, Magalang police chief Benjamin Gabriel, and DILG Magalang officer Jacqueline Tallada.

Scores of residents went to the social media to congratulate the mayor and other town officials for the award.

"Congratulations to the hardworking mayor of Magalang, Mayor Romy Pecson. Ing mayap manungkulan mamupul yang papuri. Mabuhay ka Magalang (One who governs well earns praises. Mabuhay ka, Magalang)," one of the netizens posted in his comment.

Another resident praised Pecson saying the mayor is simple, not vindictive and a man with few words but full of actions.
