Barangay officials in Western Visayas told to stay non-partisan

COMMISSION on Elections (Comelec)-Western Visayas Director Wilfredo Balisado has reminded barangay officials in the region to stay non-partisan in the upcoming May 9 polls.

Balisado made the remark in a statement, as he also cautioned other public officials to remove all election campaign materials from all government buildings.

He said ambulances and other government vehicles bearing the name of certain officials or individuals seeking electoral post will also be removed or covered to maintain the conduct of fair election campaigns.

Balisado also reminded the candidates and their respective supporters to remove all illegal campaign materials, especially those that are oversized and are posted at non-designated areas.

The Comelec official emphasized that even at private properties, the allowable size of campaign materials is only cartolina size or two feet by three feet.
