Known drug suspect yield shabu, rifle

A KNOWN drug suspect was arrested in possession of illegal drugs and a high-powered firearm in an anti-drug operation in the province of Lanao del Sur, military officials announced Thursday, February 17, 2022.

Lieutenant General Alfredo Rosario Jr., Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief, identified the arrested drug suspect as Samsodin Pascan Ara, who is allegedly involved in the drug trade in the areas of Lanao del Sur.

Rosario said Ara was arrested in an anti-drug operation by joint team of Marine Battalion Landing Team-2 (MBLT-2) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-Barmm) around 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, in Macao village, Balabagan, Lanao del Sur.

He said seized from the suspect were 100 grams of suspected shabu, a multicab, wallet containing driver’s license and voter’s identification card and two bundles of P1,000 boodle money topped with one genuine P1,000 marked money.

The suspect and the recovered items were placed in the custody of the PDEA-Barmm for proper disposition.

Major General Juvymax Uy, Joint Task Force Central commander, said the respective units of the task force will attune their efforts in upholding the advocacy of President Rodrigo Duterte in its anti-drug campaign. (SunStar Zamboanga)
