RESIDENTS of Zamboanga City were advised to remain vigilant despite the continuous decline in active coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases.

"Let us remain vigilant in the fight against Covid-19. Faithfully follow the minimum health standards," Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said.

Salazar noted that as of February 16, the confirmed Covid-19 cases for the city totaled 28,463, of which 672 are active cases, while 26,608 are recoveries and 1,183 deaths.

A total of 114 new recoveries, 34 new infections and zero death were recorded on February 16.

"The active Covid-19 cases continue to decline as more new recoveries and lesser new cases are reported on a daily basis," Salazar said.

She said that 662, representing 98.51 percent of the active cases, were acquired through community transmission, five Bureau of Jail Management and Penology personnel, three detainees, and two authorized persons outside residence. (SunStar Zamboanga)
