NEGROS Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer has confirmed over the weekend that the provincial government will return to its normal five-day work week starting March 1, 2022.

Ferrer said he has talked with Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, who affirmed with the decision and is set to release an executive order anytime this week regarding the matter.

Ferrer stressed that the decision was made as the country is already beginning to return to normalcy.

The majority of the provincial government workers are also already fully vaccinated against coronavirus disease (Covid-19), he said.

The provincial government previously adopted a four-day work arrangement as part of its health protocols against the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

As of February 19, Covid-19 cases in Negros Occidental continued to decline, with active cases now down to 1,486.

Since March 2020, Negros Occidental had a total of 41,059 Covid-19 cases with 37,684 recoveries and 1,888 deaths.
