(Foreword: This is the continuation of our response to Aubrey Is My Name on her concerns on the metallic taste in her mouth.)

DEAR Aubrey Is My Name,

Now, here are more reasons why you have that metallic taste in your mouth:

6. You are pregnant

The hormones surging in your body can affect your taste buds and give you that metal tang in your mouth.

7. Dementia

Dementia can affect the part of your brain that controls the flavour in your tongue, giving you that metallic after taste. But, I do hope you don’t have this.

8. Cancer treatment

Radiation and chemotherapy can make you feel that bitter or metallic taste in your mouth.

9. Chronic Kidney Failure

Chronic kidney failure due to nerve damage from diabetes, high blood pressure, lupus, chronic infections, or kidney diseases can lend you that metallic taste in your mouth.

10. Pine mouth

This is after eating pine nuts or also known as pine nut syndrome.

11. Brain surgery or nerve damage

The sense of taste can be altered after brain surgery, or could be due to nerve damage caused by disorders like Bell’s palsy.

12. Chemicals

If you are welder and or working with metal fumes like zinc oxide, it might give you a problem with your sense of taste. You will be at a high risk of a condition known as metal fume fever and will make you very thirsty and gives you a metallic taste in your mouth. But, this usually goes away in 6-12 hours.

Good luck!
