DIGOS City replaces Tagum City as the top area in Davao Region with the most active cases with 542, based on the report by the Department of Health (DOH)- Davao on February 19, 2022.
As presented by Dr. Genra Monatad, assistant regional Director of DOH-Davao, Digos City is followed by the Municipality of Malita and Bansalan as the top two and three areas with the highest number of active cases with 263 and 244 cases, respectively.
The other top areas included are Tagum City with 201 active cases, Matanao Municipality with 131 cases, Mati City with 110, and the municipality of Jose Abad Santos with 97 cases.
Three areas in Davao City were also included on the list, namely, the Buhangin District with 114 active cases, Talomo Central District with 105, and Talomo South District with 88 cases.
Previously, Tagum City had the highest number of active cases with 1,881 on February 2, 2022, brought about by the Covid-19 surge which started in January.
Meanwhile, Manatad also said that for the entire Davao Region, there were 3,422 active cases or 2.55 percent as of February 19.
“It’s good to know that with all our effort, for our active cases we have 1,954 or 57.1 percent are asymptomatic,” Manatad said.
Additionally, 1,324 or 38.7 percent were mild cases, 110 cases or 3.2 percent were moderate, while 29 cases or 0.8 percent were in severe condition, and five or 0.1 percent were critical.
Of the 3,422 active cases, majority were from Davao del Sur composed of 1,097 active cases, followed by Davao City with 740 cases, Davao del Norte with 526, Davao Occidental with 451, Davao de Oro with 355, and Davao Oriental with the least number of active cases per province with 253.
