A CHILD died while three others were injured in a vehicular accident in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Monday, February 21.
Police Colonel Diomarie Albarico, Zamboanga del Sur police director, said the accident happened around 11:35 p.m. Sunday, February 20, in Purok 2 in Poblacion village, Guipos municipality.
The identity of the fatality was not revealed except that he was a three-year-old boy.
Albarico identified those wounded as Tirso Alferez, 31, and his sister-in-law, Madeline Sanchez, 33. The other injured was the four-year-old daughter of Alferez.
Albarico said that investigation showed the victims were aboard a “payong-payong” type of tricycle on the way home when bumped allegedly by a military jeep.
He said the military jeep sped towards the municipality of San Miguel after the incident leaving the victims unattended.
He said the three-year-old boy was declared dead by the attending physician while the three other victims were admitted to the Rural Health Unit of Guipos town.
He added that investigation continues to establish the identity of the military jeep and its driver. (SunStar Zamboanga)
