THE City of Davao is now classified as low risk for coronavirus disease (Covid-19) based on the February 21 to 26 monitoring, weeks after the city experienced a surge of cases in January 2022.

In the latest Covid-19 Heightened Risk Assessment Map released by the City Government of Davao on February 21, Davao City posted a low -84.72 Two-Week Growth Rate (2WGR), which refers to the growth of Covid-19 in the area.

For the Average Daily Attack Rate (Adar), which is the average of new cases per 100,00 persons, Davao City is at a medium Adar of 3.79.

Both are parameters set by the Covid-19 Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EMD) to determine how fast the infection spreads in a certain area, which means Davao City had a low transmission of the Covid-19 disease for the past two weeks.

Dr. Michelle Schlosser, spokesperson of the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force, said that Dabawenyos must still practice the minimum public health standard (MPHS) and wear face masks.

“Kung gusto nato magpabilin sa alert level 2 and matagamtaman nato ang Alert level 1, we have to be very responsible. We have to always make sure to follow the minimum public health standards because it is our way of mitigating the risk of infection,” Schlosser said.

The number of critical risk barangays in the city also dropped to zero from the previous record of five barangays on February 7, while 24 barangays are under moderate risk, and only Barangay Cadalian is classified as high risk.

Barangay Cadalian currently has a medium 2WGR of 100 and a high Adar of 10.05.

Meanwhile, among the “moderate risk” barangays are Barangays 3-A, 7-A, 9-A, 10-A, 11-B, 16-B, 17-B, 29-C, 30-C, 34-D, 35-D, 38-D, A. Angliongto, Sr., Baguio Proper, Buhangin Proper, Catalunan Grande, Catalunan Pequeño, Gov. Paciano Bangoy, Matina Crossing, Mintal, Mulig, Tacunan, Toril Proper, and V. Hizon, Sr.

Barangays Carmena and Tawan-Tawan are also under moderate risk due to their close proximity to high risk barangays.
